Step 1 connect the sd card, download the Win32 Disk Imager program,
run it, This program is recommended to write the 3DS ROM to the microSD
card.
Step 2 run the Win32 Disk Imager program, select the 3DS ROM, press the
"Write" button, Click yes, then the programme starts writing the 3DS
ROM files to the microSD card,which will allows the 3DS to read the
information off the microSD card using the GW3DS red labeled Flash Kit
as if it was an actual 3DS cartridge.
Step 3 after you write the 3ds game to your sd card, just put the sd
card into your Red Labeled gateway 3ds Flashcart, insert the red
flashcart into the 3ds console, and the icon shows up, click the icon
and play the 3ds game with gateway 3ds card.

how to set up gateway 3ds Blue Labeled Flashcart
step 1 download the GW Release zip file, extract it, there is a file
named "launcher.dat" put this file on the root of your sd card.
Step 2 after you download the GW Release zip file, extract it, you also can find a folder named "Blue Card (R4i)", copy all the contents inside and pasta it to the root of your sd card.
Step 3 put the sd card into the blue labeled GW3DS Flash Kit, and put the blue labeled GW3DS Flash Kit into your V4.5 3ds console.
Step 4 power on the 3ds console, you will see a game icon on the menu, and then click it, you will see the gateway 3ds icon called "GW Install", click it to access the gateway menu.
step 5 On the gateway 3ds menu, you will see a option "Press A to Install", and "Press B to Exit". just Press A, and the GW Install homebrew application will begin exploiting your 3DS system.
Step 6 The the GW Installer starts corrupting strings in the 3DS' DS User Settings in order to allow you to crash the 3DS in 3DS mode. This will then allow the exploit launcher to function. Once the installer is finished verifying that the 3DS was exploited successfully, you will press the A button once more to exit to the 3DS' main menu.
Step 7 Go to Setting----other settings---profile---nintendo ds profile---Your 3DS will crash, reboot, and you will be in GW3DS mode. You must go back into the Nintendo DS Profile setting, and crash your 3DS every time you turn it off. You must also run the GW Install homebrew each time you use the 3DS' DS mode (ROMs, homebrew, etc), and do every step thereafter.

2 micro sd cards and a card reader. you'd better get two sd cards, one is for playing ds games, and the other is for playing 3ds games. and the sd card for playing 3ds games should be at least 16g because the max size a 3DS ROM can be is 8 GBs. and a gbatemp member has released a tool that trims 3DS roms to a smaller size that would allow someone to make a 4 GB 3DS rom small enough to fit onto a 4 GB microSD card. you can download the tool later.
a 3ds console firmware on V4.1 to V4.5 because the gateway 3ds card can only work on V4.5 3ds, so you need to get a 3ds which has the V4.5 or lower version. if your 3ds console is lower than V4.5, you need to use a retail 3ds V4.5 game to update your console to V4.5. if your 3ds console is higher than V4.5, currently it can not work with gateway 3ds, you need to wait until the gateway 3ds team can release an update to support it later.
